From the Director

This morning I heard of the death of a dear friend of mine, a fellow nurse with whom I worked some thirty-five years ago. I remember vividly the gentleness, patience and compassion she showed to all her patients. She had made quite an impression on this young nursing student. Without even trying or knowing, she had influenced my life forever.

Winston O. Abbott wrote, “One can not always know the time of greatest need. Perhaps this is as it should be. Perhaps it is only for me to light one darkened corner of the path, to place a hand upon your shoulder as a symbol of my kinship and my love. Perhaps I came this way as did you, to fill some need. But this is not always given to us to know.”

At this season of thanksgiving, we remember those who have enhanced our lives, living and deceased. We also remember and give thanks to those who bravely protect our freedom. To all of you, our readers and our supporters, we thank you for allowing us to light the path for the many children and families who come here. And to our children and families, we are thankful for the privilege of walking this path with you.

May you all find peace and hope in the holiday season and in the New Year.

Warmly,
Lisa Peluso

From all of us here at Mary’s Place…the staff, board of
directors, volunteers, children and families… we wish
that each of you find peace in your heart, joy in your
families and hope in your future
during this holiday season.
