Newsletter Summer 2011

CThe word compassion means a deep awareness of the suffering of others coupled with a strong desire to alleviate it. Compassion is not a feeling of pity, but rather a sharing of pain. Hundreds and hundreds of children and families have come here to share their stories of suffering as a way of healing and regaining hope.

AAs we celebrate 15 years of providing services to children and families, we look back at the many lives that have been touched and changed by Mary’s Place. We also look back at the many ways in which you have supported us. As always, it is your support that allows us to do this work. Whether it be Marlene, who quietly dropped off a case of bottled water, or Mrs. D., who knocked on the door, handed me a check for $5,000 and whispered “Mum’s the word,” your support is vitally important to us. I encourage you to visit www.greatnonprofits.org to hear how your support has changed the lives of many families who have come to Mary’s Place.

As you can see in this newsletter, we are all very excited about our upcoming annual Ray of Hope Celebration which will be held in September. This year we will be celebrating the 15 years during which Mary’s Place has provided support to children and families who have experienced a loss due to the death of a loved one.

BIf you have been to our Gala in the past, we hope you will attend again this year. If you have never been to one, we encourage you to make this your first. We hope this will be a great opportunity for past participants to reunite and for supporters to meet other supporters of Mary’s Place.

Come join us and share some food and memories. Come join us and celebrate the hope and healing of those who have found solace within our walls.

See you in September!
Warmly,
Lisa Peluso
