The Many Ways You Have Made a Difference...

WHS Walk-a-thon “Taking Steps for Every Cause”

walkathonOur thanks to Mrs. Lindsay Tringali and her students, for once again selecting Mary’s Place as one of the charities represented in their Walk-a-thon. Not only did the students raise money for our center, they also made the community more aware of our services.

Read-a-thon

readathonFor twelve-year-old Patrick Ganci’s community service project he decided to read for five hours and have people sponsor him. The more books he read in the five hours the more money he received from his sponsors. Patrick chose Mary’s Place to be the charity to receive the money he raised. As Patrick said in his letter, “ The main reason I donated the money to Mary’s Place was because they are a non-profit organization . This means they run solely on donations, and they don’t charge anything for their services...So anytime you have an urge to give away, give to Mary’s Place!”

By the way, Patrick read 5 books in 5 hours!! Great job Patrick.

Kids for Kids, Dancing for Life

kids danceThis non-profit organization raises funds for children's charities in the New England area. It is their belief that if there is to be a better future, it lies in their efforts to rear children who understand the importance of reaching out to those less fortunate. Learning at an early age that giving of one's self for the betterment of humanity is not just an act of kindness, but rather a part of life.

This year Kid’s for Kid’s chose Mary’s Place to be one of the recipient of their fundraising efforts and presented us with a check for $2,500. We are most grateful for their generous support and kindness.

Tee Shirt Fundraiser in Loving Memory

t shirtChelsi Lee Derrig, 14, of Montgomery, MA designed and sold tee shirts in memory of her only aunt, Jackie Lee Keen. Jackie died of cancer in 2005. Her husband and son, Gene and Charlie Keen, have found comfort and healing at Mary’s Place since. Chelsi designed and sold the shirts as a fundraiser for Mary’s Place to make her aunt proud. We are all very proud of Chelsi!

This year the Konica Minolta Junior Clinic, which is part of the ING New England Golf Classic, featured Mary’s Place as one of four charities and invited our children to participated in the Junior Clinic. The clinic was conducted by the lady Pros and was an afternoon of great fun for all.
