Volunteer Spotlight

My name is Cathy Stahr and I became involved with Mary’s Place when I was introduced to the Begin Again Support Group after my mother passed away in 2003. Mary, Lisa, Betty and the entire group helped me get through a very difficult time in my life. I knew then what a wonderful and safe environment Mary’s Place provided to so many people of all ages experiencing terrible losses in their lives. I had heard about the children’s groups and knew I would love to be involved with that. I completed the volunteer training in September 2007 and I have been working with the young children’s group since then. Some weeks there’s more talking, other times more listening during group time, but I always feel that I receive more from the children than they receive from me. They, their families and everyone at Mary’s Place (Louise, Lisa and my fellow volunteers) are all very special people. I look forward to spending my Sunday mornings with all of them!
